Who We Are

Khadijah International Waqf (L) Foundation (KIWF) is a charitable waqf (al-waqf al-khairi) established on 23 April 2018 under Section 107 of the Labuan Islamic Financial Services and Securities Act 2010.

As stipulated under item 6.2 of the Guidelines on the Establishment of Labuan International Waqf Foundation, “The waqf foundation shall act as the Trustee (Nazir or Mutawalli) of the waqf.” In this role, KIWF is entrusted to manage, grow, and channel waqf assets towards sustainable, high-impact initiatives that benefit communities locally and globally.

KIWF was founded to honour and emulate the generosity, leadership, and compassion of the First Leading Lady in Islam, Saidatina Khadijah bint Khuwailid R.A., the beloved wife of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and Mother of the Believers.

In Sahih Muslim, the Prophet ﷺ said:

“God Almighty never granted me anyone better in this life than her. She accepted me when people rejected me; she believed in me when people doubted me; she shared her wealth with me when people deprived me; and Allah granted me children only through her.”

Saidatina Khadijah R.A. was one of the most successful and respected merchants of her era. Historical accounts tell us that when the Quraysh caravans embarked on their summer journey to Syria or winter journey to Yemen, her caravan alone equalled the combined caravans of all other Quraysh traders. She was honoured with titles such as Ameerat-Quraysh (“Princess of Quraysh”), al-Tahira (“The Pure One”), and Khadijah al-Kubra (“Khadijah the Great”).

Her legacy of generosity was unmatched, she fed and clothed the poor, supported her relatives financially, and provided marriage portions for those in need. At KIWF, we are committed to continuing her legacy by using the institution of waqf to empower women, uplift children, and strengthen the ummah through programs that are sustainable, impactful, and guided by Islamic values.
